Our History:
Raymond
Raymond Davilla is of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes of Oklahoma, he grew up among his people in the
small native community of Anadarko, Oklahoma. Raymond was exposed to a multi-cultured background
among many native tribes both as a youth and as an adult. The most enjoyable times he recalls growing
up, were the powwows across Oklahoma. People gathered from every tribe around and shared their culture
of various native dance, food and traditions. The color and pageantry of the graceful and traditional
dancers always drew Raymond’s interest to a heightened state of respect and awe.
Raymond is overwhelmed even today by the memories of stories told by elders, sharing the past regarding;
religion, history and good times. Native people hold a common bond of respect toward the elders, because
this leads the way to a successful future while honoring a trying past.
As Raymond entered his adult years after leaving college at the University of Oklahoma, he discovered a
new walk with a Creator that his people always followed. It was in a neighboring town that he discovered
Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. God had many things in store for this soon to be minister that would lead
him around the country for God’s honor. The Lord led Raymond in a power spiritual walk in a place among
his white brothers.
Mylinda
From the time she was 10, Mylinda knew her life would be different from everyone in her family.
Spending part of her childhood on the Navajo reservation in New Mexico, Mylinda helped her parents as
missionaries, teaching Sunday School, Children’s Church, and playing the piano for services. Most kids
would have thought this a heavy burden to bear, but Mylinda had a glimpse into the future, a future that
would involve leading an organization founded for the Native people.
Although Mylinda and her family left the reservation for other churches to pastor, her heart never left the
Native American people.
Ministry
In 1986, Raymond and Mylinda met, and in 1987, they married, and they have never looked back, except
to utilize lessons they have learned along the way.
From small beginnings as youth pastors, children’s church workers, choir director for a growing Native
church in Oklahoma, Raymond and Mylinda have never stopped desiring more, knowing the “higher calling”
that God has placed upon them.
In 1993, the Davillas moved to New Mexico, and it has become much more than home. They have worked
tirelessly pioneering Native churches and ministries, leading the way in personal evangelism to Native
America.
In 2005 Raymond and Mylinda Davilla founded Native Christian Way as an umbrella organization to cover
the broad focus of comprehensive outreach that was placed in their hearts.
Their vision has been to reach the Native American population with the knowledge of Christ and His
salvation plan.
While Native Christian Way began as little more than ministry outreach, opportunities continued to broaden
the horizon for this organization.
The Davilla’s media experience blossomed when, after taking classes through a local television station,
they began to film training sessions for broad distribution to Native American ministers across the country.
They continued their media education, feeding the hunger for the ability to use the most powerful tool in
outreach, the media.
In 2007, the Davillas launched the first local Christian Native focus, Native hosted program of its kind,
“Spirit Walkers”. With the help of Native music artists, and a varying array of guests, this program gained
instant popularity in the local market.
To meet the requirements of the growing list of projects, Native Way Media was born. Because of wise
council in organizing Native Christian Way, Native Way Media has the benefit of residing under this
umbrella in a non profit, minority owned, faith based organization.
In 2011, Native Christian launched Spirit Walker Press, a publishing company for Native American authors
and books about Native America by non Native authors. We are currently accepting unsolicited
submissions. For more information, please visit the website, www.spiritwalkerpress.com
